Why Sibiu?
Sibiu, the Town with Eyes
Sibiu is a middle-sized, well-preserved fortified medieval town in central Romania, situated in the historical region of Transylvania. Nicknamed The Town with Eyes (given its historical buildings with partly open rooftops), the town is a well-known tourist destination for both domestic and foreign visitors.
Known for its culture, history, gastronomy or local cuisine, and diverse architecture, which includes the iconic houses with eyes that gave Sibiu its nickname, the town has garnered significant attention since the beginning of the 21st century. Sibiu was designated the European Capital of Culture in 2007 and, one year later, it was ranked "Europe's 8th-most idyllic place to live" by Forbes.
CAFÉS
My favorite cafés in Sibiu
Café Wien
Café Wien combines the definition of a confectionery with a coffee shop, both with Viennese specifics. The interior recreates the authentic atmosphere of Vienna's cafés through decorations that also include stories about the Austrian capital.
Address:
Sibiu, Piața Huet nr. 4
What I like about it:
In the summer, a pianist is playing live on the piano, on the terrace. The coffee and cake selection is excellent.
Lili's Café and Restaurant
Lili's restaurant is located in the center of Sibiu, in Piaţa Mică, being an inviting place full of individuality. The owners' love for dogs is also reflected in the name of the restaurant(named after their puppy, Lili), hence the only Pet Friendly location in Sibiu.
Address:
Sibiu, Strada Ocnei 30
What I like about it:
The interior design is superb and the ambience very pleasant. The food is delicious.
Pardon Café & Bistro
Pardon, excuse us, guys and gals! Pardon Cafe Restaurant Sibiu is waiting for you between the hustle and bustle and history, with fine liqueurs, specially crafted dishes and music for the soul.
Address:
Sibiu, Str. Cetății nr. 14
What I like about it:
The best location, on the most beautiful street in Sibiu.
